Glaze is usually concentrated in a bib under the spout. Generally undecorated but some have merchant's marks scratched onto the body.
Function
Storage. A few examples show external blackening, indicating that they have been put near an open fire.

Mainly in the Severn and Wye Valleys.

Notes
Two forms of baluster jug have been identified in this fabric. The first has a simple rim, pinched spout and rod handle. The second is generally larger with a squared rim, pinched spout and strap handle.
