These vessels are handmade and usually sooted indicating that their primary use was for cooking.
Medieval (late 11th to mid 12th century)

Notes
Typologically these are similar to jars in fabrics 57 and 57.1 which were produced in the Cotswolds in the 11th century. The are most probably residual in deposits later than the mid 12th century
