Many of these jars have evidence of external burning and/or sooting, indicating that they were primarily used as cooking vessels.
General distribution
This is the most commonly identified form of this fabric type. Sherds from barrel-shaped jars are regularly identified in 16th-17th century assemblages from Worcester and also occur in smaller quantity from sites throughout the county.
