Nene Valley region, CAMBRIDGESHIRE
Produced in the Nene Valley area (Howe, Perrin and Mackreth 1980). Distributed throughout England as far north as the frontier, with a concentration in the east and south east. Distribution was probably most extensive during the 3rd century prior to the expansion of the Oxfordshire industry, although the ware was still the most dominant in eastern England into the late 4th century (Tyers 1996, 175). Small quantities of Nene Valley ware have been found in Worcester (Evans 1992, 32; Bryant and Evans 2001, 40; Griffin 2003, 33) and Droitwich (Rees 1992, 50; Hurst 1992b, 137; Lentowicz 1997, 73).
