Fabric 46.3 - Developed Stamford type ware


Iron free clay with angular quartz grains (0.03-0.13mm), iron grains (0.01mm) and occassional ill-sorted clay pellets (1.0-2.0mm).
The colour of the fabric ranges from buff to pale brown.

Developed Stamford ware is rare in this region but has been found before in Worcester, Hereford and Gloucester
Medieval (12th to 13th century)
Developed Stamford type ware represents the end of a pottery tradition that lasted from the 9th to mid 13th century.
