Fabric 91 - Post-medieval buff ware


Hard, smooth fabric with few obvious inclusions except for moderate, medium quartz, moderate rounded red pellets measuring <1.00mm and occasional angular buff inclusions measuring <3.00mm.

Decoration
Often slip decorated with red and/or white slip under a pale yellow glaze, with combing and feathering common. Can also be decorated with an iron rich black or brown glaze, a yellow lead glaze or a manganese mottled glaze.
Post Medieval (17th -18th century)
Most sherds were glazed internally and externally, with the exception of larger flat wares which were often glazed on the interior only.
