Fabric 4.8 - Malvernian shelly limestone tempered ware


Soft fabric with a soapy feel containing abundant angular fossilised shelly limestone (generally <5.0mm) and rare rounded quartz sand inclusions (0.25-0.5mm).
Pinkish red to dark brown outer surface and variably coloured inner surface with a grey core.

Decoration
Decoration can include smoothed surfaces, finger smearing, shallow finger grooving, diagonal incised lines on top of rim or on the outer edge of rim. Both surfaces are occasionally burnished.
