Decoration
Stamped decoration around the rim (Peacock Group B2) (Peacock 1968) and may be wiped or evenly burnished.
Cotswolds area , GLOUCESTERSHIRE
Peacock (1968) suggested that the fabric and form characteristics of this pottery suggested a production area in the Cotswolds, where the potters were imitating other products in the region. It is relatively rare, for instance only accounting for 1% of the Iron Age pottery at Aston Mill (Evans 1990).
Iron Age (c.400 BC to 100 BC)
A middle Iron Age date seems most likely given the stamp decoration around the upper rim which closely resembles other wares of this period.
